Lonin got a fish tank last month (08/02)


Put plants in it (10/02)


Then the lid broke so we sent it back, it hasn't come back yet. >: Got some new plants, but we can't show you that the pictures are ugly.

Jack likes water, though.

She's been swimming a few times. >:

Well she was balancing along the edge of the glass then my mum scared her and her whole back end fell in. c: But she regularly dips her paws and face in if we're not watching her. Sometimes we accidentally leave the door open and she just walks up to Lonin with both front legs soaked to her armpits.

Nope not yet >: Will email them soon. Got an email last week when they said they were testing it and nothing since. ;o; We still don't have the doors either, and it's been over a month. XD

Ammonia and nitrite 0. Added more ammonia to test tomorrow. We won't be able to get fish until next week anyway.
Got an email saying the company that makes the fish tank lids is out of stock. Because apparently nothing this company orders is ever in stock. So they're going to cannibalize one of the lids in their shop and send that. c: Or something. We don't even know.

Anyway.. Salt water or just water?

I have a salt water aquarium (tropical one). I will post some pics.. After

Saltwater(marine) and tropical are different. C: Lonin has a tropical(heater) but not marine one. Marine ones are complicated and fancy.

So Lonin might instead go with 6-8 harlequin rasbora (start off with 6 for £10 8D, maybe add more later), 4-6 of some sort of itty bitty (pygmaeus, habrosus or hastatus) cory, 1 honey (or dwarf, or maybe some sparkling depends what we can find) gourami and ALL THE SHRIMP!!!!

;o; There's a 4ft tank on Gumtree for £35. Both too far away and suspiciously cheap. And waaaaay too big. XD

Salt water = warm water, salt-tolerating fishies
Fresh water = cold water, no salt-tolerance fishies and stuff
Tropical = warm water, no salt-tolerance fishies and stuff

I want to have a marine aquarium. But then, it's too much stuff to do with tank maintenance and wave makers, marine salt and corals .___.

Lonin has a tropical fish tank since community fish such as guppies, mollies, corys etc, and bettas are warm water fishiiieess that don't like salt :3

Yup yup was closer to you, but it's gone now anyway. XD Gumtree really needs to let Lonin sort by miles rather than just anywhere in North Yorkshire. XD

Found a shop that sells Betta. c: Lonin's brother didn't like them to start with. Made the mistake of mentioning fighting fish. He's decided he likes them now. :B If we end up going with a gourami then we might keep a lookout for a cheap little 5-10 gallon tank and find somewhere to put one. XD
They also sold 'halequin tetra' which looked the same as harlequin rasbora. But we don't know. >:

c: Getting fishies tomorrow. Even though the lid still hasn't come. >: They said it would come Friday or today and it hasn't.
So we'll need something to put on top to stop them jumping out. No idea what. XD
Will either be harlequin rasbora or maybe guppies or endlers, but only boys unless the shop would buy back any babies they might have. :B

You can buy a screen mesh for now, most pet stores sell them

Ooh! Do want to see your fishies when you get them! As much as you've put into the tank I'll be they'll be happy little fishies!

We bought some frozen bloodworms today in a big freezer labelled 'aquatic and reptile foods'. The fish stuff was in a big open bit, and there were drawers too. So Lonin's mum was all 'I wonder what's in here O:'
And Lonin was all 'nooooooooooooo don't look in there'
Lonin's mum closed the drawer pretty quickly. :B It was filled with frozen rats.

A screen mesh lid, like for reptiles, won't work? I can assure you the fishies wouldn't be able to jump out

Ahaha, we give our bettas freeze dried, so much easier to keep XD That's why I refuse to own a snake- they eat mice ;_;

They had little plastic ones so we got one of those.

Yup yup. D: A snake might be cool, but Lonin couldn't deal with all the whole dead animals. >:


Anyways. 2 guppies. One has an orange tail, the other is mostly blue. c: The blue one is kinda freaking out and won't stay still. The orange one is much chiller. XD

They had a whole tank full of musk turtles <3 All the adorable

Might have been stress or something, he was just floating at the bottom for a while. :c
Lonin's dad promised to pay for fishies if he was allowed to pick one. So as long as other fish continues being ok and nothing weird happens, will get some more at the weekend.

c: Went to the scary plant shop to get a plant (didn't even get the one we wanted )
Came out with some frozen food we didn't know they sold and 'at least 5' red cherry shrimp. Lonin counted 7, maybe more. There were hundreds of them in a massive tank and the guy was all 'yeah you can buy some 8D'
So we did.
They are so cute <3
The guppies just completely ignore them. One swam right into them and they didn't even notice. XD

I have a fish, he escaped all over my sisters notebook.
