Rules and Guidelines Empty Rules and Guidelines

Post by Pyrkagias Mon Feb 25, 2013 10:00 am

Please note: These rules are subject to change. An announcement will be made when such an event happens.
1. GENERAL

1.1. All content must remain at a G rating, no swearing, adult media, adult topics. Also links to such content is also prohibited.

1.2. Content must remain legal. Do not post copyrighted content, or images, viruses, spyware or otherwise malicious or illegal software such as ROMS or illegally obtained media. Posting links to such content is also prohibited.

1.3. Harassment of members by posting, rating or private messaging is not allowed. This includes disrespectful comments, insults, obviously unwanted attention and trolling.

1.4. Forum signatures must stay within 350px (height) by 970px (width). This equates to about 18 lines of normal sized text.

1.5. Please do not mini-moderate. This is when you tell someone to do something or say something along these lines... "Yeah, I told you so". This is the staff's job and not yours. You can obviously answer questions to help people and correct users if they are incorrect.

1.5.1. Please do not warn or rebuke other members for breaking a rule. Simply report the post and let a staff member handle it, it is after all their job.

2. REPORTING

2.1. If something has gone wrong within a post, please PM a Moderator, a Global Moderator or an Administrator. Please also be detailed as to the offense. If the offense includes things like swearing, illegal content or links to illegal content please save a screenshot or reply, quoting the thread so proper evidence is available.

2.2. If you wish to report a private message, please take a screen shot of the private message, then forward the message and the screen shot to an active(preferably online) Moderator, Global Moderator or Administrator to be dealt with. The higher the offense, the higher you'll want to go when sending the forwarded PM.

2.3. If you wish to report a signature, profile or chat post please take a screen shot and PM an active(preferably online) Moderator, Global Moderator or Vice Admin. For Chat and reports, you can report to a Community Advisor as well.

3. POSTING

3.1. Do not spam. A spam post is a post or reply that advertises sites (which do not follow the advertising rule), include a lot of unnecessary smilies, include hard to understand chat speak, are obviously off-topic or are used to simply increase a user's post count.

3.2. Do not necro-post. Necro-posting is when you reply to a thread that has not been replied for OVER 30 days. It does not matter if you post ON the 30th day.

3.2.1. If you are a new user, and are unaware of the rule, you will receive a free pass. Once you have more than 10 posts, you will be held accountable for each necro-post you make.

3.2.2. If you find a 31+ days old thread which you did NOT create, however you want to reply, you may contact a staff member, so they may bump it for you.

3.3. Bumping is different from necro-posting. Bumping is to revive an old thread or to bring more attention to it. If a thread is OLDER than 30 days, but the thread CREATOR wishes to bump it, that is fine. However, if you did NOT create the thread, you may not bump it for them.

3.3.1. A thread can be bumped as many times as you wish with a 24 hour interval.

3.4. Do not double-post. Double posting is when you post an extra post after you've already created one, therefore places two of your posts next to each other, and increasing post count.

3.5. Do not thread hi-jack. Thread Hi-Jacking is to start your own conversation in a thread that pulls the thread away from its original purpose.

3.6. Do not post when it is not necessary. For example, if someone suggests some ideas to improve a site, don't post a short sentence like "I agree with them" or "Nice site" because the post is quite useless and it doesn't really help. No punishment equates with this rule.

3.7. Do not thread juggle. Thread juggling is various posts between two (sometimes three) people which have 5 or less minutes between the posts, and are commonly 15 words or less. This commonly happens within the forum games, and can result in a lock of the juggled thread.

These rules apply for the ENTIRE forum, however as long as subforum rules do not conflict with the ones above they are to be followed as well. These rules also apply within the chat.
________________________________________________________________________________
SIMPLIFIED RULES
If you find that the rules above are quite complicated and do not understand them, please read the below simplified rules. If you still do not understand them or have any questions, feel free to contact a staff member or post a reply to this topic.

GENERAL
Simply use common sense. Any language or content that is deemed unsuitable for all audiences (from young to old & from all professions including law enforcement) will not be permitted. You must also be respectful towards members and must not act superior.

REPORTING
There is no need to reply to an inappropriate post, but you can just contact a staff member with the evidence provided (e.g. link to thread, screenshot).

POSTING
Spam, advertisements and necro-posting are not permitted. Necro-posting is when you reply to an unstickied topic that hasn't been replied to for over 30 days. However, if you are the thread creator and wish to 'bump' your topic to bring attention- you may do so as this is bumping not necro-posting. Bumping can be done with 24 hour intervals per thread. If you did not create the thread, contact a staff member to bump it for you.

When posting, you must not post more than once without an interval of 24 hours or someone else replying to your post.

Thread juggling is not allowed. This is when two (sometimes three) post consecutively as a chat (commonly 15 words or less in each post, with 5 or less minutes posting interval). This is not allowed as it will count as spam/unneccessary posting because this could have been posted in the chatroom (chatroom can be found at the bottom of the index page).

Do not post when it is unnecessary. For example, if someone suggests some ideas to improve a site, don't post a short sentence like "I agree with them" or "Nice site" because the post is quite useless and it doesn't really help. No punishment equates with this rule.

Hi-jacking threads is when a user takes away the purpose of the thread. For example, if a thread is to discuss dogs, then do not bring the subject of amphibians in.

Unsure of something? Questions? Please do not hesitate to contact a staff member or reply to this topic Smile

I've got a qestion about ROMs.

Are we aloud simply talking about them?

I mean, not giving out and names of the ROMs/Emulators, or the links to them?

Also do bootlegs (like bootleg toys and such) count for rule 1.2?

To the best of my knowledge, discussion of ROMs is allowed as the way you're suppose to get ROMs is to extract the game data from the game itself (which is legal I believe as long as you keep those files to yourself and do not give them to others).

I don't really know about bootlegs. I guess the question would be, what would you discuss about bootlegs? Trying to selling them would break that rule, but I can't think of much else reason to discuss bootlegs?
